The purpose of the OESC is to promote social, recreational, charitable and educational endeavors through non-profit activities.
The OESC operates in Okinawa, Japan and operates the Thrift Shop and Uncle Sam's Attic on Kadena Air Base. A portion of the profits go to Japanese and American Charities and to support base activities throughout Okinawa.
Membership is open to all spouses or dependents of active duty enlisted military personnel stationed on Okinawa regardless of branch of service.
The OESC Thrift Shop on Kadena Air Base is our primary source of income. It takes our members and many volunteers to make it successful. It is hard work, however our spouses have fun! If you are interested in volunteering, please call 633-0436 and speak to the Manager for further details.
The OESC donates the money that we raise to both Japanese and American Charities. We accept Applications for Funds directly to OESC from on base and off base organizations. Also, we pool our money with other spouses clubs on the island via the American Women's Welfare Association (AWWA). Through AWWA we support numerous Japanese charitable organizations.
